Benemax - The Benefit Management Company - was founded in 1985 by William Garnett and David Cowles. Their mission was simple: find a better way to deliver health benefits in the U.S. Benemax immediately began experimenting with plan designs that asked both employers and employees to share in claims risk. Within a year, Benemax had introduced the concept of equity building as a reward for good healthcare decisions and good health results. 15 years later, these early designs became the prototypes for today's Consumer Directed Health Care plans. Today, Benemax manages benefits for more than 300 employers across the country. We combine design consulting, insurance funding, claims administration, concierge service and health & fitness promotion into a single package. For most employers, our integrated benefit management strategy will save 10% to 25% in the first year and reduce annual trend increases thereafter to single digit levels. In 1999, Benemax began working with Private Equity Groups and their portfolio companies. Our goals: reduce burn rate, help attract top notch talent to the portfoilo and create a common look and feel for benefits across the portfolio. We're proud to say that we have produced significant results for our PEG partners (see Case Studies). Now, a new breakthrough allows us to bring portfolio companies together into a single buying group to create greater purchasing power and drive even better health benefit value. This technology gives us purchasing leverage without imposing a one-size-fits-all solution on the companies in a portfolio. We are able to combine the strength of numbers with the flexibility to shape each company's benefit plan to reflect its own unique culture. Managing benefits is no longer just a matter of shopping for coverage or paying claims. Benefits are now an integral part of overall business strategy. A properly designed plan can cut costs, help recruit and retain talented employees, reduce turnover and absenteeism, and boost morale & productivity. A company's benefit plan is now an investment in its future, an investment with a measurable ROI. |
